Weird Skyrim Image Shows NPC Walking Around Without a Head

A weird (and diverting) new image from The Senior Parchments 5: Skyrim has surfaced on the web, and it focuses on a glitch in the game that makes a NPC walk around without a head. Skyrim is broadly regarded as one of the greatest games made and is also perhaps of the most profitable game ever, but that doesn't mean the game has not seen its fair share of criticism throughout the long term, mainly in regard to the wide variety of bugs and glitches present in each release of the popular game. Still, a few glitches are hilarious and lead to a lot of talk about other glitches and bugs saw as within the game.

Skyrim has been released on various platforms since its original debut back in 2011. From that point forward, a remastered variant for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC was released called The Senior Parchments 5: Skyrim - Special Edition. Then, there were the Switch adaptation and VR releases of the game in 2017 and 2018. Finally, there was The Senior Parchments 5: Anniversary Edition, which was released for modern consoles in 2021 and added a graphical overhaul and a couple of new features like fishing. Throughout all these forms, though, one thing has stayed consistent: Skyrim has a lot of glitches.

In a post made to Reddit by client Serious_Wrangler2651, a player has found popular NPC Ria completely missing her head and still talking to the player. While absurd and comical all alone, what makes it much more clever is the dialog between Ria and the player-character. The player-character can ask for her assistance, but in this case, it seems as though Ria is the one that might require a bit of assistance. Skyrim might have a lot of bugs and glitches, but two or three them are serious, similar to the menu bug in Skyrim Anniversary Edition.

The dialog between the characters is what really sells this glitch. According to Ria, nothing is off-base in the slightest. Other comments on the thread are brimming with jokes regarding heads and references to popular movies like Monty Python and the Sacred goals' infamous black knight scene. Ria is a supporter NPC that can help the player out in combat, but it is a typical issue in the game wherein devotees in Skyrim can get trapped or turn out to be unable to return to the player.

Skyrim's impact on the gaming industry is undeniable. The game, at one point, was viewed as the pinnacle of open-world game plan by many. With each release of the game, though, the developers apparently create new glitches while sometimes fixing old ones, and some Skyrim players will try and utilize mods to restore recently fixed bugs. While glitches like this one found by Serious_Wrangler2651 are fairly harmless, it can be frustrating for players that a game released 11 years ago still has a lot of glitches. But with mod support and having the option to play the game on virtually any platform, Skyrim is still a game that continues to give.
