Halo Infinite Confirms Forge-Made Remake of The Pit Map

One of the Halo franchise's most popular multiplayer maps, The Pit, is being remade in Forge mode by 343 Industries for an impending release in Halo Infinite. While the current state of Halo Infinite involves some controversy, Halo Infinite's forthcoming Forge release is an undeniable bright spot. Hoping to showcase Forge while tying it into Halo's esports scene, 343 has announced that it's bringing back one of Halo 3's most exciting maps.

The Pit was first released for Halo 3 and has a special place in the Halo franchise's esports scene. Originally made by Bungie, 343 Industries even remade and renamed it Pitfall for its first release, Halo 4. The original map is set in an UNSC Training Facility and features various training structures, Pelicans, fencing, and tarmac. The map itself is symmetrical, with a variety of strong weapon options and enhancers that spawn in its center.

For Halo Infinite, 343 Industries is remaking The Pit with an entirely new esthetic. Instead of the industrial training facility, Halo Infinite's The Pit will feature a neon purple futuristic style. Since The Pit is made entirely in Halo Infinite's Forge map creation motor, it's made utilizing assets included with the game. Other than esthetic changes, it looks like 343 is attempting to authentically recreate The Pit's plan as Halo fans will recollect it.

The Pit, unfortunately, will not be released alongside Forge mode when it launches on November 8. Instead, it's planned to be conveyed shortly after. No particular release date has yet been affirmed, and no details regarding the delayed release of The Pit were shared. 343 is probably going to be in the middle of guaranteeing Forge fills in as intended when it launches, though, and would prefer its emphasis be on that rather than launching another map at the same time.

It's also conceivable that The Pit will be conveyed alongside other content, rather than releasing The Pit all alone. The Pit may have just made sense to announce as part of a Halo esports event before 343 Industries is ready to divulge any other plans.

Altogether, The Pit is a pleasant potential addition to Halo Infinite and something that the franchise's fans and esports watchers will certainly appreciate. It's not a particularly large or meaningful addition, especially compared to Forge itself, but it's tomfoolery and unexpected, and that's something Halo Infinite certainly needs more of. Expect more information about Forge and The Pit throughout the next month.
